Fair and foul

Livejournaler paceon's verdict on Macbeth:

So I today i had to wait around from about 9:30 am to 1pm just to get tickets to see the play Macbeth in Central Park. But man it was soooo worth the wait! The cast was A-FREAKING-MAZING! and the whole scenery was too cool. There were a few quirks though, yet it had nothing to do with the performance but the rules.

Those rules being about no umbrellas and no recordings or photos, etc.

But alas, the lovefest is over already. An extremely critical review is up at BroadwayWorld's forum - click through only if you have very thick skin. Seriously. Here's the link.

Early days yet.

Ouch. I saw Jennifer in Design for a Living--I thought she was fantastic but I do remember that she did recite her lines rather quickly. I hope she's able to work it out and other reviews are an improvement.

It's only day 3 today, after what seems to have been a difficult preparation with the rain delay. Give it time, I reckon.

Relax folks. The Broadway chat/posting boards are notoriously filled with self-satisfied, competitive and lesser-employed NY-based 'theatricians.' Pompous, cliche-ridden 'on-line reviews' are a new-tradition; an off-spring of bitching around a table at a Times Square bar. Harmless. Entertaining though. In other forums they are called Trolls. But the theater had them first, and will always have them. This fellow, 'NomdePlume,' is just another friend; laugh along with him and re-read it imagining a slurred, over-reaching voice of someone enjoying the only drama they'll ever perform.

Haha, thanks LY.

Now someone who's seen the thing go join the fray and defend her honour! ;)

I did see it and some of what he says has value - although extremely hateful and just plain mean. Half the time I couldn't keep up with what JE was saying. I was reading more of her tone and face then knowing exactly what was going on. The scene where Lady M goes crazy - she is standing still all the way back on a landing of a flight of stairs. Wouldn't that be a time to have her really close to the audience - especially in such a intimate theater? Poor direction?

I agree with LY, and Broadwayworld is the worst of the bway chat boards. Lots of people on there needlessly attack performers (and other posters I might add).
Jennite, "NondePlume" thinks that you're JE! LOL

Goodness, as if my name and contant blog-linking didn't make it clear enough. Have gone and sorted it, thanks.

I went last night at Jennifer was definitely NOT rushing her lines. Actually, she was the highlight of the play for me. Schreiber is still finding his feet as Macbeth, a very difficult and demand role. He's not there yet, but he will be.
