Sorry to see her leave the project ...

I'm disappointed by this. She would have been an amazing Catelyn. I hope it was her decision though.

This is a very sad news. She was perfect for Catelyn: beautiful, royal and talented. Far more better than the new actress.

Well let's not belittle the new girl until we see some footage. Apparently Michelle Fairley will also be playing Hermione Granger's mum in the last two Harry Potter movies.

But yes, I am curious why Ms. Ehle pulled out. Perhaps the daunting shooting schedule did not allow her as much time with family or to do as much of her beloved theatre work. We may never know. These things happen.

As a Game of Thrones fan, I will still follow the series, but will also regularly check this site for any new Ehle news. Great job, and nice site, guys!

I was only excited about this series because Jennifer Ehle was going to be in it.

I am not normally a fiction, never mind fantasy, reader. When a JE fan, though, one is grateful for any and every project because there is often a lot of waiting in between things.

It is disappointing, in retrospect, that I invested significant time into the books to find out more about JE's role as Catelyn.

No offense to the new actress or to the series author, each of whom is talented in his/her own right, but I will not be investing time or money from this point forward into the series or HBO because of this change.

I also feel very sad :( I am so tired of watching pro Hollywood actresses with zero talent and loads of special effects behind. I so hoped to see a very talented Ms. Ehle on screen for some time. :S
As someone mentioned before, I hope it was her decision and nothing else

I wonder if her reason for leaving will ever be leaked. There is a very good chance she wasn't "fired" (the article that broke the story said this wasn't a performance issue at all) and that she simply decided the series had too grueling a shooting schedule. I think she is generally accustomed to having more freedom (doing Broadway or West End shows and the like) than a television series would allow.

She has a family to see to, for heaven's sake, and they live nowhere near Northern Ireland, where she'd have to spend all her time.

Either way, her quasi-involvement with the series has made me an Ehle fan already, and I will go see whatever she puts onscreen next.
